FIRST IMPRESSIONS - FROM A DESIGNER'S PERSPECTIVE
The free worldwide shipping was 9 days to my door with tracking (UK-US). I was impressed, since I've sent international letters that take much longer. The watch was packed in a bubble mailer, and packaged in this beautiful velvet box. The black on black embossing is so luxurious, and I love the crown logo. I'm glad they took care on the packaging, because companies often miss the importance of the experience. There was a manufacturing odor from the velvet box, but I just left it open to air out.
When I saw the photos online, I didn't think I'd like the texture in the center of the face; however, I think it does a good job of filling up the white space. Without it, I think the dial would feel empty.
I love that the design on the face is very geometric. It has a rose gold stick dial with raised tick marks, and a rose gold framed date.
One thing I noticed on this watch was the lack of a second hand. At first I thought this was odd, but I don't find myself needing to read seconds often anyway. It also means there is no ticking sound on this watch! I looked closely at the hands to see if they would click at the minute, but they glide smoothly instead.
I do wish that the sleek crown symbol was on the dial instead of the "LORD" text logo. I just worry I'll need to explain that it's a British brand so people don't think I'm wearing a "Jesus" watch.
For a boyfriend-style women's watch, the case on this one is surprisingly slim. I couldn't find the size on the website, but I measured 40-41mm. 7.5mm is totally reasonable for a case of this diameter. The bezels do taper, which helps reduce bulk. The materials are stainless steel and sapphire glass, according to to the back of the watch.
I love the crown detail on this watch. Their crown logo is on the crown (ha!). It also adds a secret touch of blue, which adds personality without making someone like me OCD about whether it still matches my outfit.
I love the 18mm width of this strap. It is wide enough to have that oversized feel, but it tapers just a little bit and ends in a point for easy wear. The text logo is also on the buckle, but I think that's the perfect placement for it.
Even wearing the strap on the smallest/second smallest notch, the tail does not stick out in a bothersome way. The strap seemed stiff on the first day, but is fully broken in now. I've had it on all day, every day so far. I usually need to take my watch off while working on my laptop, but it has been pretty comfortable.
