I've been watching a lot of Skillshare courses recently, including several about watercolors. I really like stepping away from the computer for a while; the looseness of watercolor painting is a nice break from my usual digital work. The photo above is what I've been working on for the Skillshare class, Modern Watercolor Techniques: Beginner's Level. The galaxy project is great practice for me to just let go, and would make a great background for lettering.
This little fox nesting doll was a project for Watercolors for Illustrators. I joined this class because although I like the look of watercolors, I still crave precision and control over my work. The image isn't one I'd usually create, so it was a fun challenge. I also decided to digitize it for possible future use.
So far, Skillshare has inspired me to create a lot more often, and it's only as big of a commitment as you can handle. It looks like the $0.99 deal is still going on, so sign up here!
